Set on the east side of the Phuket island are The Nchantra Pool Suite Residences, where I had the pleasure of staying on my first day in Thailand. Being just 15 minutes drive from Phuket city, Nchantra is surprisingly quiet and calm.

Welcomed with a cold, perfumed towel and sweet, refreshing drink after the long flight from Australia, I felt relaxed in a matter of seconds. I quickly realised this place will let me do what I wanted to do the most: just switch off and relax.

Facilities

In Nchantra time doesn’t matter, it’s just you and silence. You get a lot of privacy in the villa, with many options of relaxation.

From the sun deck at the roof, you have a good vantage point to watch sunrise and view of the bay. In a conveniently situated restaurant, you can enjoy beautiful food and cocktails right next to the pool, beach and the blue sea. You can also pick any of the sunbeds and lounges for your afternoon nap. And if you need a proper relax, you have a jacuzzi and private plunge pool right next to your villa.

Room

Each of the huge villas/suites has its own jacuzzi & plunge pool, separate living and sleeping areas, fully equipped kitchen and the sun deck on the roof.

What was important to me after the flight – how comfortable that big, fluffy bed is going to be? Believe me, it was like laying on a soft cloud. Coffee machine in the kitchen was a great bonus, I was able to make coffee, take it upstairs to the sundeck and enjoy it while watching the bay.

The interior is modern, classy, tastefully arranged and decorated.

Area

There is absolutely no noise, you can actually hear birds sing and water flow in the pool.

The bay is calm and would be good for swimming, but there is lots of rubbish floating in the water. Beach is small but sandy and if you don’t mind the local dogs then you’ll get a chance to relax.

Dining

The restaurant offers a decent selection of dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Everything seems to be prepared carefully and with attention to detail. Not only taste-wise but also the presentation of food is really good. The daily special is worth a try. During my visit, I tried red wine and rosemary braised lamb on olive mash which was exquisite.

The drinks menu is also satisfying with some colourful cocktails to choose from.

I liked Nchantra for letting me be lazy. After a very peaceful sunrise, few swims in the pool, come lazy lunch, afternoon nap and relaxing cocktails in the evening.
I would say it is a really good place for a honeymoon, with lots of privacy and some interesting things to do (visit Phuket city, go to one of the nearby islands for a day or go shopping) in close distance.
